The Nose Frida

This is one of the best inventions ever made, hands down! Everyone has had a sick, congested baby.  As well as the awful guilt that you feel for not being able to do anything. You most likely used the bulb aspirator, which I consider the most useless invention ever made!

What is the Nose Frida?? For those of you that aren’t aware of this, it is literally a snot sucker.  It was invented by a Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat doctor in Sweden.  It is just a tube attached to a rubber straw. You stick the tube just up to baby’s nostril and you suck the boogers out.  Don’t worry there is a filter in between the tube and the straw, you will not get any boogers in your mouth.

It works like a dream, August was so stuffy that he could not sleep. He would just wake up choking because he was so congested.  I used the snot sucker once and I was blown away with how much mucus came out of his nose.  It may sound a little weird, but it was the most satisfying feeling.  Just seeing all that was coming out and the sweet look of relief on his face.  He could breathe instantly, I also received a huge smile and some cooing.  I also used infant saline nose drops, I found it would soften everything and allow for more to come out.  I would put the saline drops in his nose, wait about 1 minute and then suck the snot away.  The Nose Frida is around $22 and can be found at most pharmacies. It comes with 4 extra filters.  I would suggest getting the box of 20 filters for $6, I ended up using half of them for one cold.

I can honestly say, I never thought I would hear myself say “I sucked his snot out”. Us mothers do whatever we can to make sure our little ones are feeling their best.  I can’t rave enough about this product, from now on this will be a staple in any baby shower gift for friends.
